After a hugely successful sell-out 2015 race, organisers of the Vitality Oxford Half Marathon are pleased to announce that thousands of runners have signed up to take on the 13.1 mile challenge on Sunday 9 October 2016. There is no time for dreaming of running in the 'City of Dreaming Spires', with the final places bound to be snapped up well before race day.
This year the city centre course welcomes a new and exciting start line, moving from St Giles to Broad Street, further enhancing its spectacular start and finish, while still taking in the many historical sights of Oxford. The route is designed to be fast and flat to improve the race experience for both runners and spectators alike. It provides runners with the chance to find a good rhythm and really get into their stride and also the opportunity for great spectator support for those hoping to catch a glimpse of friends and family taking part in the race.
Jamie Warren, at race organiser GO2, said: “We are delighted to see that runners are excited to return to the Vitality Oxford Half Marathon. We would urge anyone thinking about taking part not to delay and to sign up as soon as possible. Whether you’re a half marathon pro, looking for a goal to help you get fit, need a challenge to raise money for charity, want a PB on a great course or simply to have fun as you run, this is the race for you. We have seen a huge uptake from the local community and university too, so runners can expect huge support along the route, with fantastic live entertainment and premium goody bag at the end!”
