Weekend That's Choc Full Of Events

Run for Chocolate venues mapDorney Lake, Windsor is the place for a whole kaleidoscope of events this weekend with a half marathon, 20k, 15k, 10k and 5k all available on Sunday (19 February), plus the appetisingly named 'Run For Chocolate' 5K Fun Run on Saturday (18 February). Eton College's famous rowing centre will provide the completely flat and truly inspirational backdrop for the Dorney Lake Winter Half Marathon and its four supporting events.

Firstly, lets get the low down on that chocolate themed 5k. Perhaps an edible medal? Run For Chocolate 'launched' in January 2015 at the 2012 London Olympic Rowing venue of Dorney Lake. It is a celebration of fitness and wellbeing, where participants of all ages and abilities are able to enjoy the benefits of running with the reward of a warm and comforting mug of luxury hot chocolate at the finish. What greater motivation is there to get out there and be active?
The more serious runners will relish four and a half loops of scenic Dorney Lake on smooth, tarmac paths in a spectacular 400-acre parkland setting for the 13.1 miles. There are options to record times for 20k, 15k, 10k and 5k distances in supporting fun runs. Chip timing ensures prompt, accurate results in all of the events. This is the 10th year of this successful run series promoted by F3 Events.
Half marathon seems to be the most popular distance this weekend with other opportunities on Sunday at Hampton Court, Richmond Park, Hillingdon and Tunbridge Wells.
More traditional marathon preparation is also on offer with the classic Bramley 20/10 miles road race, organised by Reading Roadrunners, on quiet lanes in leafy Berkshire countryside.
