There were a couple of winter warming festive events in the south east at the weekend with hundreds of runners eager for a pre-Christmas run out. Saturday's Christmas Pudding Dash at Ashburnham Place, near Battle in East Sussex saw 248 finishers attracted by the bright blue skies. The next day saw a further 147 complete the Kent Christmas Cracker in Fowlmead Country Park near Deal.
Both events were over five miles. In the Pudding Dash, Adam Clarke of Hastings AC headed the pack home in 23:30, followed by Mark Dooley of Herne Hill Harriers in 24:09 and Ross Skelton of Hastings AC in 24:34. In 20th place came the leading lady; Susie Casebourne of Bexhill Runners in 30:22. Claudia Fielder of Wadhurst Runners was the midpoint finisher in 40:10.
In Sunday's Christmas Cracker - a trickier multi-terrain event - Chris Holmes of East Kent charged home in 26:07. Second was Rob Sloane (Trafford AC) in 26:50 from Matthew Britton (Ashford AC) in 27:43. The first lady was Janine Brown of Ashford AC in 31:09. The midpoint finisher was Michael Mercer in 42:30.
