Organisers have issued a last call for anyone wishing to take part in the Running4Women Windsor 10K on Saturday 27 September 2014.
The Running4Women event in Windsor started off as an 8K in 2004 and was one of the very first women-only events to take place in the UK. The event has evolved quite a lot since then with more people taking up running over the years and, following the success of She Runs Windsor 10K, the event now covers a 10K course and is part of the Windsor Running Festival.
The Running4Women 10K is open to everyone, from beginners through to joggers, seasoned runners and club runners - and places are still available.
Taking place in Windsor Great Park, the Running4Women Windsor 10K is all run on traffic free roads and offers stunning views of Windsor Castle and across the park. The start and finish are on The Long Walk with free onsite parking, and the race village offers a range of entertainment and catering options for the whole family as well as great facilities for the runners.
Runners can also sign up as a team of friends, and mothers and daughters can enter the Generation Game Challenge with prizes available for the fastest teams (lowest aggregate times) as well as for the best fancy dress.
Joanne Tranter (Manager, Special Events) from Running4Women commented: “We are looking forward to bringing our women-only event back to Windsor Great Park this autumn. The Running4Women Windsor 10K takes place in a unique location with stunning views and it welcomes women of all ages, levels and background.
"There is a competitive element to the event with prizes for the top three, but it is mainly about taking part, about camaraderie, being active, doing something for yourself and of course that great feeling of achievement when you cross the finish line. We look forward to seeing you all at the end of this month!”
Entry fees are £14.50 for UKA members and £16.50 for unaffiliated runners and include a medal for all finishers. Registration is open now at www.running4women.com.
The Running4Women Windsor 10K is part of the Windsor Running Festival, which also incorporates the Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday 28 September, one of the most iconic and longest established races in the UK. Limited charity places are still available, details can be found on the website www.runwindsor.com/charities/
